Energy Transition: Italy-Kazakhstan Supply Chain Forum

The Italy-Kazakhstan Supply Chain Forum: Energy Transition in Central Asia was held in Astana. Gabidulla Ospankulov, Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, attended the event and delivered a speech.

Also delivering welcoming remarks were Asel Zhanasova, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Francesco Corvaro, Special Envoy of the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security in the Context of Climate Change; Saltanat Satzhan, Managing Director for Development and Privatization of Samruk-Kazyna JSC; Aidar Abildabekov, Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Sanzhar Zharkeshov, Vice Chairman of the Committee for the Protection of Investor Rights of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Antonello de Riu, Ambassador of Italy to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan; and Yerbolat Sembayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Italy.

In his speech, Gabidulla Ospankulov emphasized that Italy is a reliable partner of Kazakhstan in the Mediterranean and the European Union.

"Today, approximately 384 companies with Italian capital are registered in our country, including such world-renowned brands as Eni, Ansaldo Energia, Tramite Group, and Maire Tecnimont. I am convinced that enormous potential remains untapped," the Chairman noted.

He highlighted several promising areas of cooperation for developing long-term partnerships, establishing joint ventures, and implementing joint projects, including the energy and industrial sectors, agriculture, transport and logistics, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, digitalization, and artificial intelligence.

The event included panel sessions on energy transition, discussions of supply chain case studies, renewable energy, and other topics.

Altynai Mukanova, the foreign representative of JSC NC KAZAKH INVEST in Italy, spoke at the session "Meeting Local Needs and Seizing Worldwide Opportunities." In her speech, she emphasized Kazakhstan's role as a reliable link in global supply chains, noting the country's strategic location, infrastructure development, and opportunities for localizing production in collaboration with international partners.

The forum brought together government leaders, industry experts, and international participants to discuss the future of energy supply chains, sustainable infrastructure, and regional cooperation.
